I passed my theory and practical tests first time following 40 hours of lessons with Flying Colours. The lessons themselves were really well structured and within a short space of time I was able to tackle all of the manoeuvres required in the practical test. As I progressed I completed a series of mock tests with the instructor acting as the examiner. This helped me to build confidence and also develop the skills to drive safely.  I was also able to fit in lessons around my day job which was really helpful. Dan is most definitely the man when it comes to the art of instructing young drivers. I found him to be a very encouraging and knowledgeable driving instructor. Most important of all however was his attention to detail and patience! Getting my driving license at the age of 30 (following several failed attempts) was a big challenge for me, but having Dan as an instructor really gave me the confidence to go for it and succeed. I had got my driving license a year back and fell pregnant so was little apprehensive to drive post pregnancy. That is when I contacted Dan seeing the brilliant reviews he had. And I was glad I took lessons from him. He was very patient throughout my lessons and also indicated that I would require only few classes!! Who says that? Only one word: Excellent! Dan is a very good instructor. English is not my first language and Dan was the best instructor I could find, he repeated as many times as needed, and was always making sure I understood. He is very patient and always friendly and happy. I had been driving before I started lessons with Dan but on the "other side of the road" in my home country and was worried it would be difficult to get use to the British side and I asked how many lessons he told me the amount I needed ( I though I would need more!) and he was right! I pass the test first time. He was always on time for the lessons and even gave me lessons during very early morning because I could not make other time. I could not have asked for a better teacher. I had never driven when I had my first lesson but he really built my confidence and I passed first time. He was very calm and patient even when I was attempting to reverse around a corner for the millionth time. I never felt out of my depth as every step was taken at the right pace and he has loads of tips to help with the tricky stuff. Not only has Dan helped me become a confident and careful driver, he also taught my sister and brother in law to drive too. Our family wouldn't recommend anyone else! I started lessons with Dan through a recommendation and since I have always recommended him! He is patient, friendly and encouraging! His lessons are built around you and anything you are unsure of he will find a way to help you understand. I never felt pressured in to having more lessons then needed as he is more interested in you passing, unlike some driving instructors. Dan is a great, patient instructor, and after having lessons some years back (not succesfully-and discouraged from continuing by dowdy, bossy instructors who seemed to be there more for themselves than the pupils..) I find him a refreshing change. He never raises his voice even though I must be the worst pupil ever!. I am determined not to give up this time due to his encouraging attitude. Flying Colours is a brilliant driving school; Dan was patient, encouraging and always a total laugh. I loved my driving lessons and he helped me gain confidence on the road so that I passed first time. He taught a whole group of my friends and every single one of them have recommended him on and I would do so again and again. I was recommended Dan through my best mates wife & I have to say he was great, I had my test only a month before my first baby was due so Dan was aware how important it was for me to pass as I was going to need to drive my wife to the hospital. He was incredibly patient & supportive especially considering how terrible I was to start with!! The proof is in the pudding; despite 23 years of lessons with many different instructors I never got to the point where I felt I could even take a test, Dan was the one who actually made it happen! Dan is a fantastic instructor, I would highly recommend him to anyone! I passed my driving test in September after of 4 years of trying (I had taken a break from lessons within this time) but I put the reason for me passing down to Dan as he is very patient and always gave me a confidence boost and talked things i.e. theory and practical test by saying things like "You will pass" and Believe in yourself" and they are the things that as a pupil, you need to hear and from Dan, that is what you get!
